Giuseppe Orlando, MD, PhD, Wake Forest School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC, discusses attempts to characterize the matrisome of the human pancreas to provide insight into the development of biomaterials for the pancreas. Various proteomic techniques including mass spectrometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were conducted to quantify the number of different proteins present. This interview took place at the 6th World Congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS 2021).
