TERMIS 2021 | Textile-based assembly of tissue-engineered blood vessels

Diane Potart, INSERM, Nantes, France, provides an overview of human tissue-engineered blood vessels assembled with textile-based techniques. She emphasizes the need for tissue-engineered vascular grafts, as autologous vessels are limited in supply and synthetic grafts can have multiple side effects including infection, thrombosis, and dysplasia. Tissue-engineered vascular grafts derived from human tissue are biocompatible and lacks the supply issues associated with autologous grafts. This interview took place at 6th world congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS 2021).
