TERMIS 2021 | Creating environments for bone co-cultures

Sandra Hofmann, PhD, Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, discusses the applications of co-culture systems, where multiple cell types are cultured together. Co-culturing enables two different stem cells to differentiate into their respective lineages in the same media and their interactions to be studied. The interaction of co-cultured cells in a disease or normal state can additionally be assessed and Dr Hofmann additionally describes how the field can move forward in terms of tissue engineering. This interview took place at the 6th World Congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS 2021).
