Ngan Huang, PhD, Stanford University, Stanford, CA, provides an overview of what the next steps are in the field of cardiac tissue engineering. Innovations including the use of induced pluripotent stem cells (iSPCs) as a cell source and 3D printing will enable the development of complex structures on a larger scale. Dr Huang additionally highlights computational biology and single-cell RNA sequencing as technologies that will provide researchers a better understanding of tissue engineering at a cellular level. This interview took place at the 6th World Congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS 2021).
