TERMIS 2021 | Healing diabetic ulcers with nanoclays

Jonathan Dawson, PhD, University of Southampton, Southampton, UK, gives an overview of utilizing nanoclays in treating diabetic foot ulcers. Nanoclays can concentrate proteins from the surrounding area, and administration of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the wound area has shown to stimulate angiogenesis and thus enhance wound repair in patients with diabetes. This interview took place at the 6th World Congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS 2021).
