TERMIS 2021 | Enhancing in vivo cell growth with metabolites

Melvin Gurian, University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands, provides an overview of how determining the metabolic requirements for stem cell growth can accelerate the development of tissue engineered products. Certain sugars have been identified as important metabolites that can drive the growth of cells, and by creating a release system, the required amount of metabolites can sustain in vivo cell survival. This interview took place at the 6th World Congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS 2021).
