Petter Björquist, PhD, VERIGRAFT, Göteborg, Sweden, provides an overview of personalized tissue-engineered veins (P-TEV), derived from donated allogeneic tissue. Donated veins are initially personalized by decellularization to reduce immunogenicity of the tissue and subsequent reconditioning enables the tissue to be transplanted into the patient without rejection by incubating the tissue in the patient’s blood and other proprietary agents. P-TEV is currently in clinical development and the technology has the potential to be applied in developing personalized nerves and urethras. This interview took place at Meeting on the Mesa 2021.
