Bones and tissues are connected via the bone-tendon interface, and when ruptured, is replaced by weaker scar tissue. Ilze Donderwinkel, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, discusses strategies to research mechanisms of regenerating the bone-tendon interface via models based on tissue engineered hydrogel blocks. This interview took place at the 6th World Congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS 2021).
