Meeting on the Med 2021 | The future impact of COVID-19 on the gene therapy sector

Nicole Faust, PhD, CEVEC Pharmaceuticals, Koeln, Germany, discusses the potential future impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the gene therapy sector, given that a number of recently approved adenoviral-based and mRNA COVID-19 vaccines utilize gene therapy technologies. As well as an increased understanding of gene vector technology, lessons learned from the unprecedented speed and scale at which these COVID-19 vaccines have been manufactured and distributed will be beneficial for gene therapy research and could be applied to other therapies in the future. This interview took place during the Cell & Gene Meeting on the Mediterranean 2021 virtual conference.
