Marta Monguió-Tortajada, PhD, Health Science Research Institute Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP), Badalona, Spain, gives an overview of how extracellular vesicles (EVs) can be utilized to find novel biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases. EVs contain numerous molecules including proteins, microRNA, and non-coding RNAs that are protected from the extracellular environment, which can be utilized as biomarkers. This interview took place at the 6th World Congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS 2021).
